I think passion is a great thing. I am passionate about photography and I always enjoy meeting others who are passionate about their art. It’s even better when I can share that passion and support a cause that I believe in as well. Breakdown Tucson is one of those rare opportunities. Breakdown is a performance group that brings drama, the spoken word and dance together to share a message of hope in a compelling way tailored for high school students. They are passionate about sharing their message of hope with students are are struggling with some heavy issues in their lives.
Their goal is to help educate, inspire and challenge young people to make healthy choices for their future as well as provide a path to help if a student is struggling with one of the issues presented. Some of the topics that they address in their performances include:
- Drugs, Alcohol and Drunk Driving
- Sex and Abstinence
- Teen Pregnancy
- Sexually Transmitted Diseases
- Bullying
- Depression
- Suicide and Cutting
- Abusive Relationships
- Sexting
- Rape
- and more…
When they called me and asked if I would be interested in working with them I jumped at the chance because I feel like these are topics that are vitally important for today’s culture. It was a great chance to share my passion for photography with a message that is important.
We spent a couple of hours at a parking garage in downtown Tucson shooting team photos and individual head shots for the team. We had a great together and I think you can see that in the photos.
I’m hopeful that their message will help inspire the youth of today that their tomorrow can be brighter than they ever imagined.
